  • February 2009: We have built a proof-of-concept demo which illustrates the technical feasibility of the basic elements. Buildout of basic pages for all entities (persons, teams, and so forth) can be done using automated scripts, and display of authoritative statistics and other information can be accomplished.
  • Spring 2009: Draft essential editorial policies. Many of these can be adapted from Wikipedia and modified to address specific differences in the scope and objectives of the project. Develop the basic framework for organizing the encyclopedia, including the initial scope of pages to be generated, category structure, namespaces, and templates for infoboxes, navboxes, and so forth.
  • Summer 2009: Begin recruiting experts and volunteers to polish the framework. Begin actively using the Encyclopedia for the development and maintenance of biographical data, minor league ballparks, collegiate, and other "in-progress" datasets. Through these use-cases, identify concepts missing from the structure that will be useful for navigation. (Are there page redirects which will make "Go" searches work better? Is it easy to find the right person out of the 200,000 in the Encyclopedia?)
  • Fall 2009: Expand access to the Encyclopedia on a beta basis. This might be to a select group, or to the the membership as a whole. Get feedback on potentially missing or confusing features or data, and find solutions.
  • By March 1, 2010: Once we are satisfied the quality of the project is good enough to put the SABR name on, make available to the world.
